French Jacquard tea towel by Tissage Moutet "Jardin Bleu"

"Jardin Bleu" motif designed by artist Virginie Cognet is featured on a French jacquard tea towel from Southwestern France. Made of 100% cotton, it measures 20" wide x 28" tall (50 cm x 70 cm) and is royal bleu with a tapestry-like scene including a cat, birds, flowers, and the gardener. It features an embroidered gold bird.  Since 1919, Tissage Moutet has operated their weaving studio which is now headed by the fifth generation, Benjamin Moutet. 

The Basque fabric tradition dates back to the Middle Ages when Basque farmers began weaving sun-protecting capes called Saial to protect their cows. This high-quality fabric will not shrink and yarn-dyed colors remain vibrant after years of use. Machine wash and dry.
