French Jacquard tea towel by Tissage Moutet "Montgolfieres" embroidered
"Montgolfières" displays a nighttime holiday scene designed by artist Hélène Druvert with hot air balloons featured above the Paris skyline woven in a French jacquard tea towel from Southwestern France. Made of 100% cotton, it measures 20" wide x 28" tall (50 cm x 70 cm) and is dark blue and gold tones with an embroidered red bow and a silver metallic star. Since 1919, Tissage Moutet has operated their weaving studio which is now headed by the fifth generation, Benjamin Moutet.
The Basque fabric tradition dates back to the Middle Ages when Basque farmers began weaving sun-protecting capes called Saial to protect their cows. This high-quality fabric will not shrink and yarn-dyed colors remain vibrant after years of use. Machine wash and dry.
